about me

My background in dance cultivated acute body awareness and empowerment through strength. Admiring my body for what it can do, rather than what it looks like, has been a gift.

I studied the impact of exercise in anatomy and physiology classes at Harvard Extension School and in research at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Mind-Body Movement Lab. This research helped broaden my understanding of the connection between interoception, strength, and long-term health.

I started Bod. to share this feeling and knowledge with others. Personal training has allowed me to work one-on-one with people who may lack sensation, strength, and pride in their bodies. Strength training research demonstrates how developing the body now can provide us with capacity and autonomy to the ends of our lives.

Bod. is developed to help you feel and feel good.

Women in menopause are at a unique crossroads in determining the outcome of their health. As sex hormones decline, building muscle and bone mass, reducing body fat, and strengthening the cardiovascular system will become more challenging. The earlier a woman begins using science-backed methods to improve these health outcomes through exercise, the higher the likelihood of independence later in life.

As an inpatient physical therapy aide, I watched peoples choices disappear with lower muscle mass. Going home, owning a dog, going on walks, going to the bathroom on their own lost feasibility because they did not act proactively. When I left that job, I felt committed to catching people earlier in life to prevent dependence and loss of autonomy later on.

Due to holes in research, women in menopause are the direct targets of misinformation and are preyed upon by the wellness industry. Rest assured that when you exercise with me, I am honest and true to the research available to me.

There is no easy fix. The closest thing to a magic pill is exercise. A bit of extra effort today will serve you for years to come. You deserve to experience and know about your body. You need rest.

Why menopause?

Exercise has been shown to alleviate the following symptoms and ailments:

  • Anxiety, depression, and panic

  • Osteoporosis and osteopenia (loss of bone mass)

  • Sarcopenia (loss of muscle mass)

  • Increased body fat percentage

  • Brain fog

  • Joint pain

  • Insomnia

  • Diabetes

  • Cardiac and Metabolic disease

  • Breast Cancer

Who is bod for?

  • Let’s learn the basics. With a close eye on your form, you will be more mindful of your body and feel stronger in everything you do.

  • Working so hard without results? It may be because traditional fitness has given very little though to how your body adapts as a woman. Work smarter, not hard, with training tailored specifically to your needs.

  • Personal training is for you. Moving through the world without strength makes you far more susceptible to injury than strength training. Set your own pace and threshold. Ask every question that crosses your mind. Understand body mechanics and use imagery to use them optimally. Let me watch you closely and make sure everything goes smoothly.

  • Tell me what you need. I’ll do the programming and the research. I’ll set up the space and provide equipment. I’ll put on a great playlist and motivate you to continue. Just show up and try. You will be proud of the results.

  • I train few men. Make their case for me and I’ll let them into my club.
